The Perthshire Amber Big Knit is a hand's on way of raising funds for our selected charities. Festival-goers and knitters from afar have over the years contributed their time and energy to create a knitted blanket and other special articles that are auctioned, raffled or sold to help show our support in a unique, creative and involving way. Valued sponsors of this initiative since it began have been Artesano and Brittany.
Dougie MacLean's mother Dolly was the Big Knit's first co-ordinator (2007 - 2010) and continues to help with the knitting and overseeing of the Big Knit Team that has gradually evolved.
This coming year (2018) we are having a break from the Big Knit Blanket and focusing on knitted hats, kid's knitted toys and anything else that folks fancy knitting (in advance or during the festival! Watch this space for developments.
We’re so pleased to be helping The Cyrenians again in 2018. Thank you to everyone who knits and buys hats and other things. We couldn’t do it without you!
