Aberfeldy Town Hall
One of our aims for Perthshire Amber Festival is to experience different parts of Perthshire and its countryside. In 2012 we introduced Aberfeldy Town Hall as a main venue and once again we will host an evening concert in this unique setting.
The site of the building was presented to the town, by the third Marquis of Breadalbane, to commemorate Aberfeldy’s elevation to Burghal status in 1887. Work commenced in 1889 and the Town Hall Buildings were opened on 5th December, 1891. It was noted at the time that this “exceptionally avant-garde piece of Free Style” was “surely influenced in its rubbly Romanesque arcade by published designs of great American architect "H H Richardson”... there are even some traces of Art Nouveau.
The buildings and surrounding gardens are being brought back to life by the local charitable status group Locus Breadalbane.
