OPEN MIC 2010
The Open Mic concerts are held in the beautiful foyer of the Theatre which looks out across the River Tummel. Hosted by Ewen Sutherland, who is a fine performer in his own right as well as a wonderful and encouraging compare. Dougie and Ewen formed a folk duo while at school and then went on to form a band called Puddock's Well, which had an influence on the development of what is now called "the celtic music scene"- with members Andy M Stewart and Martin Hadden joining well known folk band Silly Wizard And Dougie himself joining The Tannahill Weavers.

The Open Mic concept has been in existence for years at music festivals, but of late has become more widely known through the very successful Open Mic sessions started by Danny Kyle at Glasgow's Celtic Connections Festival. The Open Mic gives the chance to musicians, who aren't performing at the evening concerts, to get involved in the weekend's music.

The most important thing about an Open Mic is the audience. Over the past years the audiences at the open mic sessions helped to make the events enjoyable for all the performers involved.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING PART:
The dates for this year's Perthshire Amber Festival Open Mic are Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October and Saturday 6th November 2010, between 1-4pm.
As with past years the time for each performance will be limited to 10 minutes (2 songs max) per artist or group. Due to the large number of musicians keen to perform, we are encouraging everyone interested to send a tape or CD of the 2 songs they'd like to perform. The recording quality isn't important at all...it's the kind of songs and their length that we'll be listening to so that we can put together 3 good afternoons of music. If each solo artist or group could also send full name (or names of band & members), instrument/s, contact telephone & email address that would be great. Also let us know if there are any of the 3 dates you definitely can't make. Send the disc or tape (or attach to an email an MP3 file if anyone prefers to send it that way) with info. to the following address.
