Here is a selection of comments from audience and musicians from near and far! "Thank you to all the Macleans for a wonderful week last week we loved every minute of the concerts we went to, especially Edradour. I hope the Shelter Blanket turned out well, what a brilliant way of connecting people to the festival. We had a truly memorable holiday and will be back next year. THANK YOU SO MUCH" (Mel McKnight and Martin French, USA) What a wonderful Perthshire Amber! I was privileged to be part of it & had some great feedback on the photography. Well done on a magnificent effort in Homecoming year. The final concert in Perth was a fitting end to it all. Fantastic!" (Andy Hall - Photographer, Scotland)
"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to sing at the Open Mic at the Perthshire Amber Festival... it was a pleasure to participate! The Guitar workshop was very useful. It will improve and change the way I play and write greatly. I am also very grateful for the precious time you took to write the chord shapes down for me." (Elena Piras - Open Mic and Workshop participant, London)
"We had a great time singing at the Amber Festival and were thrilled that celtic music radio were there to broadcast it allowing so many more people to share in this fantastic event". (The Silver Darlings - Open Mic particpants, Glasgow)
"Thank you again for everything!! We really enjoyed your festival and had a great time!! It was such a feeling playing with Dougie and the band!!" (Calaisa- Man stage band, Sweden)
"I wish we could just hoover up the music, the people and whole festival and take it home with us". (Davie Duncan - Main Stage Performer, Greenock)
"Just to thank you for the business, your enthusiasm, your patience and superb hospitality for my folk. They all enjoyed taking part as I hope you enjoyed them". (Bob Gilchrist- Agent for Frances Black)
"Just to say sincere thanks again for having The MacDonald Bros on at the Amber Festival yesterday and last night. It was superb and I know the lads were thrilled to bits to be appearing, especially performing on stage with one of their heroes. We all had a great time". (MacDonald Bother's Manager)
"Fantastic festival...thank you all. You create something very special with such a fabulous atmosphere". (Jane Newall, England)
"I would just like to say thank-you so much for the amazing fun day we had on the song bus. There were six of us up at Pitlochry for four days and this day out was one of the highlights of our visit. It was such a novel idea and went so well-especially for the first one that was run- we were so glad to be on the very first outing. Everyone was so friendly and easy-going- passengers and performers alike. We spoke to so many nice people, and even that lovely lunch in the rain did not dampen anybodies' spirits! We hope that this becomes a regular event in the festival calendar- and that we are lucky enough to get tickets! We really enjoyed the concert on Saturday, and having walked to and visited the Edradour Distillary that day, it was great to have another little dram. So thank you again for all the hard work for what is a truly great festival week. Already looking forward to our next visit" (Moira Bennet, England)
"Just a quick note to congratulate you on this year’s festival and in particular to give you a big slap on the back for producing and presenting such a great Caledonia concert last night. A packed Perth Concert Hall was quite a sight to see for a Sunday night in November and the line up was fantastic. I hadn’t seen any of the acts before and was really impressed with the programming. I enjoyed the whole evening - as did those sitting around me. Well Done. Thanks so much for being such great Homecoming Ambassadors" (Marie Christie- EventScotland)
"Congratulations to you and all the team on a fantastic show last night and further congratulations on the overall success of Perthshire Amber again this year" (Stuart Oliver- Perth & Kinross Council)
"I'm just writing to say thanks very much for having me come and play at Cabaret Amber this year. I really enjoyed the space, audience and all of the organisers were just so friendly & welcoming". (Iona Leigh - Cabaret Amber performer)
"Many thanks for a most memorable evening at the Perth Concert Hall tonight. The line up of musicians was superb and the warmth of Dougies smile as the various acts "covered" his songs was heartwarming for us all. We attended the "wee" Guitar workshop last Sunday and our son Harry took part- watching and listening to Dougie will no doubt inspire him in the months and years ahead". (Alistair / Kathleen & Harry Macpherson, Burrelton)
"Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed being at the Perthshire Amber festival - what a wonderful communal atmosphere you've managed to engender around the festival and what brilliant music!" (Paula Ryan- Open Mic performer, USA)
"Just wanted to thank you for one of the best weekends ever. Went with friends, stayed at a fantastic B & B that we'd found during the summer. Saturday was great - morning in the explorers' garden - with those leaves drifting down it felt like we were in a magic world. Watched folk rehearsing by the river around lunchtime, spent afternoon at the open mic session - knitting needles flying in time to the songs (what a great idea when you're sitting down with hands free!). Then dinner at the theatre restaurant followed by a tremendous concert. Great atmosphere, and you made a biggish venue feel just as cosy as the foyer had done. Loved Dougie's set and Beoga were an absolute blast! Even driving back home in the deluge of Sunday didn't dampen our spirits. After getting home the first thing we did was check dates for 2010 and will be watching for the newsletter to book up again! And recommending it to everyone (but not the B & B - we're keeping that gem for ourselves!)" (Eleanor & Allan Drummond)
"Thank you all for a great Perthshire Amber experience... now I'm home reflecting on all the great music, venues and best of all, wonderful people in the team. I've watched a few snippets from various concerts and they sound and look great.. well done Jamie! Well done Dougie, I don't know how you do it ..but every show and song were truly outstanding... a troubadour to the end". (Mike Barker - Concert Promoter and PA 09 Volunteer, Ontario Canada)
"We were at all the concerts apart from the first one in Perthshire Amber this year. Highlights were Michael McGoldrick, Beoga, Ross & Jarlath, Sunas, the fiddle concert at Edradour and seeing Fin again. Dougie was on great form and seemed to be really enjoying playing his music. The Caledonia Concert was fantastic!" (Jilly & Kenny- Crieff, Scotland)
"What a fantastic concert. Seen Dougie many times before, but the icing on his cake, was the inclusion of many talented musicians together on the one bill. Each one of the guest acts, Sunas, Calaisa, Eliza Lynn, and Frances Black were fantastic in their own right, and The amazing Dougie weaved his way, and his influence through solo performances and appearances with all the acts. Add to that, Dougies talented band and a young guy I have seen before, Sorren Maclean, who could have done a set himself. Finish the night off with an emergancy evacuation of the hall (smoke from roman candles) just before the encore, and an impromptue sing along outside the theatre, with Dougie and all the other artists (photo's CD/DVD signings etc, and it is a night I will not forget for quite a while. Thank You!". (Tommy Taylor - East Kilbride, Scotland)
"Just arrived home after a fantastic Caledonia Concert in Perth - an all star billing. The entertainment tonight was phenominal and the rendition of Caledonia by the ensemble amazing. Dougie on fine form as always. The live streaming has been a bonus this year - hope it continues in 2010. Our Grandaughter Niamh is 22 months old and is probably Dougie's youngst fan - she listen to him at night when going to sleep and has sat through some of the concerts we have viewed - will bring her to a live concert as soon as she is old enough. Big thanks to all the staff involved in this years Perthshire Amber". (Margaret & Gerry Love - Glasgow, Scotland)
"Thank you for the beautiful evening in Pitlochry last Saturday" (Andre - Amsterdam)
"We great time at this year's event and certainly made a lot of new friends. It was good to meet you and Dougie. We're certainly coming back next year and hopefully staying a bit longer. I want to sing for a bit longer next time as I feel two songs doesn't give time to show off my full potential. I didn't get chance to sing my funny stuff about dogs and rubber gloves! Could I get a spot at the Cabaret Amber? I'll come anyway because I had such a good time. Once again many thanks" (Andy Hill- Open Mic performer)
"Thanks everyone concerned for a fantastic few days at the Festival in Pitlochry. The atmosphere was so warm and friendly and it was great meeting so many of the performers and your lovely family. The concerts we attended were brilliant. I'm sorry we couldn't take part in any of the walks this year owing to my husband Stuart's temporary incapacity, his ruptured Achilles tendon causing him to rely on wheelchair and crutches! Again thanks to all the people who were so helpful to us in this respect, from pushing him up the hill at Edradour to making sure we got a parking spec outside the theatre! I have subscribed to Perthshire Amber Live, which I'm really enjoying". (Lesley- England)
"Thank you ever so much for the organisation of the festival, I saw most of the concerts and all were very special, REALLY SUPERB, enjoyed every moment, and lovely atmosphere...MARVELLOUS...!!!" (Karin Pronk- The Hague, The Netherlands)
"This years' concerts online have been great to watch - fantastic to still be able to watch what's happening from Essex but you can't beat the atmosphere of actually being there!" (Linda Neve, Essex) If you enjoyed the festival and have a comment...just
