Dougie MacLean's Caledonia Cantata TICKETS ON SALE FROM MAY 10th
Venue:Perth Concert Hall -
Date: Friday November 4th 2016.
Due to popular demand The Perthshire Amber Festival is proud to present again this special
synthesis of the wealth of Dougie’s songs and instrumental music.
This very special performance brings together favourite Dougie MacLean (famed
for his song "Caledonia" and composition "The Gael" used in "Last of the Mohicans")
with some of Scotland’s finest musicians including Jenna Reid (fiddle), Ross Ainslie
(pipes, whistles, mandocello), Sorren Maclean (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Iain
Sandilands (percussion) as well as the wonderful strings of the Perthshire Ensemble.
Dougie MacLean needs no introduction; as singer, songwriter, composer and
instrumentalist, no artist captures the soul of Scotland with more authenticity or
emotion. During his 40 years as a musician, audiences have been thrilled by
performances of his now classic songs as well as his Perthshire Amber Suite, the
Muir of Gormack, The Search and in 2014 the Perthshire Cantata. His "Caledonia
Cantata" beautifully fuses together the best of all this previous work with some
wonderful new songs and, of course, his engaging stories.
Once again he’ll present "an irresistible tapestry of tunes, rhythms, instrumental and orchestral colours,
harmonies and texture." (Michael Tumelty The Herald) and include new favourites like Child of this Place, Lunan Braes and The Place with much loved songs like Broken Wings, Turning Away, All Together and, of course, the
song that’s been called "Scotland’s alternative national anthem", Caledonia. For those who've come to the festival to enjoy the music of Dougie MacLean this is THE concert experience not to be missed!
