Dunkeld House Estate lies at the gateway to 'Highland Perthshire'. Although the present building only dates back as far as 1898, the estate itself was home to the Earls of Atholl from as early as 1529. It is rumoured that the 4th Duke of Atholl was often seen sitting at the river's edge enjoying the music of famous Dunkeld fiddle player and composer Niel Gow. The music would drift across the water as he played under his favourite oak tree on the opposite bank.
The River Room is where we have enjoyed many Amber Afternoon concerts in the past and the lovely marquee in the grounds of the hotel is where we all enjoyed the very special Farewell Bash in 2016 (when we recorded "Wild & Windy Night"). We thought this would be a great opportunity to end our festival in style by the banks of the Tay...with the wonderful Dunkeld House afternoon tea to enjoy in the middle of all the music!
