Perthshire Amber 2013
This is the 9th year of our festival and promises once again to be full of wonderful concerts featuring the finest of Scotland's musical talent as well as some international guests. Our venues are as special as ever … ranging from the prestigious Perth Concert Hall to town halls and tiny village halls, from atmospheric castles to our historic Dunkeld Cathedral and even including an iron age Crannog on Loch Tay…18 venues in all in 2013!
The festival is always always evolving (remember it began as just a weekend of concerts!) and this year we've put a lot of thought into the whole concept of 'Amber Discoveries' to complement our programme of concerts.
Enjoy the new website! All the Perthshire Amber team look forward to welcoming you to Perthshire in the autumn.
The Story So Far
"I've long dreamt of a 'festival-type' situation where I could really enjoy performing a wide body of my own work. After many years of accumulating quite a lot of songs and tunes it can be frustrating sometimes that concerts can only last a couple of hours!" (Dougie MacLean). Internationally acclaimed Singer-songwriter and Composer Dougie MacLean fulfilled his dream with the creation of The Perthshire Amber Festival, a festival that lights up the Autumn across some of Scotland's more beautiful countryside.
A Brilliant Festival! 7/11/2013
Well what can we say? We are all agreed that the 2013 Perthshire Amber Festival was the best yet!
We loved all the venues including the addition of Murthly Castle Chapel to our Amber Afternoons. The musicians from near and far were truly wonderful…from Karine Polwart, The Hazey Janes, Karen Matheson, AMWWF, The MacLean Project, Charlie McKerron, Buddy Macdonald, SeaStar and Ross and Jarlath's Band to all the Cabaret Amber performers and all those who joined in on the three afternoons of Open Mic.
